Pumpkin Day

Over the weekend we had a Halloween party.  I'm usually not one to get into all of the decorating myself.  I think it's because I didn't have a fun costume until clearance time after Halloween 2011.  Here's a photo what I wore.  I felt it especially appropriate since we've been to Nottingham a couple of times and live in the UK. Olivia is a vampire. Completely off topic, remember how some use their exercise equipment to hold clothes?  Just for the record, those cobwebs on ours in the background of the photo are decoration, not real!  LOL

It's the last day of October, and I wanted to post one more card I made from last year that is fun.  I used my cuttlebug to emboss the design on the pumpkin and an expired Stampin Up set of stamps with Old Olive.

The leaves are almost done dropping as they lay their color like carpet on the ground.  I think I'll have another cup of warm apple cider...
Winter will be here soon!  Boo!

Support our Troops!

My daughter's school is working on collecting items for troops to mail out.  It's for the holiday season.  In addition to the candy I donated, I wanted her class to be able to have a card too they could all sign.  I used my Stampin' Up Service stamps with Real Red and Pacific Point blue.  Not to mention one of my favorite label punches, flower punch, and the square punch.

To encourage the kids to remember this is for a Christmas (as to me it's not just a "holiday") box, inside I stamped "Season's Greetings."
I hope whomever receives it can feel the love I put into making the card and I hope it makes their day!  I truly appreciate those who sacrifice so much.  This is especially true during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons when they are away from the ones they love!  SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!

Today is my sister's wedding anniversary!  I'm so excited  for her celebration, and remember her special day.  Not only do I remember her special day for her wedding, but also because I had just found out a couple of days before that we were pregnant with our daughter.  It was SO hard not to tell her, as we wanted all the attention on her for her special day!

Here is the card I made and mailed about 2 weeks ago (to get there in plenty of time from England)!
I love you sister!!

Pumpkin carving

The kids and I finally got a chance to carve pumpkins last night.  They did such a good job, and had a great time.  I'd like to think they get this artistic ability from me.  We didn't last year, (or the year before as we had just moved here), but I can definitely see an improvement in their talents!

Isaac (on the left) forgot how slimy this job was...and I wasn't about to do it for them!

Carving a masterpiece...and here's the finished products!

He's so proud of his graffiti "I" that he wants to take the cut-out piece to school and show his friends!

Olivia's is cat eyes.  Love them!

I love Christmas cards.  Christmas goodie bags.  Christmas hand-made gifts...I could spend a whole week if I had all the resources at hand making, baking, packaging, and giving away Christmas gifts!
Here are some ideas below as well all know the holidays will have come and gone before know it!
The blue snowflake and present card are from my crafting last year.  The triangle/tree is new - it holds chocolate!  It's not the best photo, but I hope it helps inspire you.
Someday I'll have a craft room rather than a corner...until that day, I'll keep trekking along as as best as I can!

Isn't it funny how sayings come and go?  And when you hear an old saying, it brings back memories of you using them.  When I was in high school, we used "sup" all the time.  Sometimes we added the "head nod" too.  For some reason, it makes me laugh when I hear it these days.

Whenever I do something Stampin Up related (i.e. in my calendar) I put it as "SUP." Then I'm guaranteed a smile with an added bonus of a chuckle.

Last Thursday I had a SUP mystery hostess party at my house.  It was fun.  Here's a photo of the project we did:
We used a brown lunch bag with the top cut off, Real Red stamp pad and paper, Labels Collection Framelits (Big Shot), Scoring board, Boho blossoms punch, lace punch, eyelits/cropadile, and Snow Swirled stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please leave a comment and have a super week!

The kids and I had a fun weekend.  We went to a harvest party at the base chapel, and then I coordinated a harvest party Sunday afternoon for my husband's squadron.  Here are the cute treats I made:
They're supposed to be witches brooms and hats.  Regardless, they were full of calories and yummy!
My friend made these cute cupcakes:

We had apple bobbing, cake walk, bean bag toss, root beer float contest (head rush anyone?), activity pages, and crafts.  It was fun!

Yesterday was my monthly craft club.  Here's the fun card that I made thanks to CASEing (Copy And Share Everything) and a well-known crafter, Dawn!
I think they turned out super cute!

Here are others - they're all different.  I was running low on Halloween paper options, so I couldn't make them all the same.  Thanks for stopping by!

Pumpkins and kangaroo steak

Yes, you read correctly.
Pumpkins and kangaroo steak...that's what I saw this weekend!

The kids and I went to the pumpkin patch on Saturday.  It was a bit chilly, but otherwise wonderfully sunny.  We had fun with the quiz questions in the corn maze, and mom made them take a photo:

There were some unusual pumpkins this year.  Lots of dark green ones, some white ones (not spray painted), and very odd shaped ones.  Sorry, I am an old fuddy-duddy and I'll stick to my orange ones thank you very much!
The kids preferred the orange ones too.

Is this a spider pumpkin?  haha!

Saturday night was DATE NIGHT!  I love date nights, where I can spend one-on-one time with my wonderful hubby.  We joined 3 other couples at a restaurant in Littleport which is by Ely.
The MENU was filled with hidden wonders.  Of course we were feeling brave and tried a couple.  I had the water buffalo steak...

and hubby had the Kangaroo Steak.

Well, they were both wonderful and I'd have them again!  Too bad we didn't have room for crocodile burger...but we made room for the Banoffee dessert.  Bananas, caramel, nuts, ice cream...it was SO good.  My friend Julie and I shared it.  Yum!!

Sunday afternoon Isaac went to a birthday party at Thetford Forest.  They needed an extra adult chaperone for the Go Ape.  I don't know what I was thinking.  This was totally out of my comfort zone but I did it anyway.  It was wonderful and exhausting after 3 hours later!  I'm not too sore today...so that's a good sign!
Although, I might need a nap this afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please leave a comment!  :)

I wanted to give my daughter's teacher a fall gift, so I found out what her favorite soda was and candy bar.  Inside this brown bag goodie is 2 cans of diet A&W root beer and hershey's bar candies.  Yum!  I hope that she likes it...it's not my finest work, but it looks better than the photo shows.  More fall crafts to come soon!  Can't post them all in one day!

My kids both also got glasses this week...blaming that one on family genes.  But as long as they can see better, that's what matters!  Here's Olivia...Isaac had no desire to have his photo taken!  I wore glasses when I was 8, and then got contacts when I was 12.  I then wore contacts until I was 25, and then had lasik.  I know she's excited for her glasses (thankfully) but I don't miss wearing them!  I think she looks gorgeous!

Reds, Yellows, and Oranges

The leaves around here don't seem to change as quickly as they do in Kansas.  And once they do change, then all of a sudden they're all dropped and ready for winter and are as bare as can be.  I miss seeing sugar maple trees around just about every corner.  I took our dog on a walk today downtown by the River Lark and finally saw trees that had leaf colors other than green.  They were a beautiful mixture of reds, oranges and yellow.  Of course I picked some off the ground in case Olivia wants to be crafty with them.

We went to a cookout last Sunday evening and took a little gift.  Olivia and I had fun finding sticks and such for a gift for them, while making a bigger version for home.  Here's the one we hand-delivered:

I also had fun experimenting with my newly purchased Big Shot XL Oval Accent from Stampin' Up.  It's still a work in progress but it's getting there!

I tried to adjust the settings for you to leave a comment even if you don't have a google/gmail account.  So try it out and let me know!

Still going strong...

I really think those of us living in England were jipped (sp??) this year in not getting a summer.  It started off rainy and chilly.  There were a couple of weeks in the low to mid 80's...but that was it.   Now fall is here, jackets and scarves are being used daily, and I'm just going to run with it before winter sneaks upon us!
Here's a fun fall banner that I made.  I searched Pinterest and saw several different types of banners to get my creative bug going...there wasn't one in particular that stood out.  So I took bits and pieces from several of them and came up with this:

I love it!  And it didn't take too terribly long.  Thank goodness for my Bigshot using Framelits & Textured Impression, my Stampin' Up scoreboard as well as chocolate chip inkpad.
The pumpkin was made using my oval punch after I used the Textured Impressions embossing folder.
And here's a view of the banner in its entirety.

What a fun project that will be so easy to store once winter does show up.  But I do hope that fall sticks around longer than it's sister did...
Happy FALL!

Single Stamps available

While many love the coordination of our sets many times there is just one that you need for a specific holiday, occasion or project. Also just a single stamp makes just the right gift sometimes for a fellow crafter.
Sooooo…be a part of the Stampin’ UP! Single stamp pilot program if you hope to see more offerings like this…

We’re trying out something new! We’re excited to offer you and your customers the chance to buy single pieces from these select stamp sets: Word Play, Perfectly Penned, and Seasonal Sayings. The offer will be available now through January 2, 2013.

  • These stamps are available on any order type-customer, workshop, or online.
  • You can find the stamp item numbers on the flyers below
  • These won’t be sent to you in our typical cases or packaging; they’ll be packaged in cello bags. If you’d like a case for your stamp, you can buy our Clear-Mount Stamp Cases that come in packs of four (item 119105).
  • This offer is available for clear-mount stamps only.
  • The stamps won’t come with a Clear-Mount Block, and you’ll need to buy a block separately if you don’t already have one. The recommended block sizes can be found on the flyers.
  • There’s no limit on how many pieces you can buy.
  • Remember that this is a pilot program, so take advantage of it while you can!

I've come across 2 super cute things in the past 3 days...
#1)  Here's a fun pumpkin craft I made last night.  It made me realize how much I love my glue gun!  And I made it without burning my finger (yeah!)  I came across the idea thru Two Paper Divas website.  I have two different suggestions for the craft.  It doesn't take super crafty fingers to make it happen.  I folded 6 strips (dimensions are on the link above), used a stick from my yard, punched leaves (used my circle punch) as well as my pennant punch and Stampin' Up ribbon.  Love it!
I wanted to see how it would look sitting on top a cupcake holder

I don't think this photo does justice...but it looks super cute in my window.

So...you're wondering about the second item:

2).  This past weekend was the infamous bazaar held on base in a big airline hangar.  It's a fun-draiser (Yes, it's fun too!) organized by the Spouse's Clubs on base for scholarship monies.

Vendors come from all over the region, and even travel from Germany.  There's the German wine vendor, the Olive Lady, antiques, cheeses, fudge, purses, wood crafts, handmade items, and more.  I was very excited to score this new antique for my house at a great deal.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!
