Hello from England!

Welcome to my blog!
We are a christian family living in the Sunshine state (before that we spent four years in England and two years in Turkey).

My posts are of everyday life and my love of crafting. I hope to inspire you in some way to share your talents too.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to leave a comment.
Cheers and God's blessings to you and yours!

With my birthday behind me (and sometimes I feel it's all gone to my behind??  -Mark, I thought you'd get a good chuckle out of that)...I press on to what's ahead of me.

Our on-base shopping is filled with Valentine goodies up for grabs.  And if you see something you like, get it while it's there.  Once it's gone, it's GONE!

With my kids being older (ages 14 and 10), the days of class Valentine parties are also behind us.  Ho hum.  I can no longer look forward to crafting with my children for their 20+ classmates.  So my poor friends and co-workers get to enjoy my cheesy hand-made goodies.  They usually don't complain when they see it contains chocolate.

Yes!  I've already begun Valentine cards!  I recently purchased some stamps that will be retiring, and figured I needed to try them out.

The first one, "I Lava You."

And another one, "We blend well."

This is only the beginning...stay tuned for more Valentine cards!  Be sure and send feedback as to which ones are you favorites.

A Little Here, a Little There

I wanted to share the gorgeous flowers I received from my friend, Shelly, who lives in Arkansas.  They arrived to my home in England with a package of fudge (YUM!)

There's a sweet little baby girl at church named Hannah.  She turned one on Saturday.  She has these gorgeous big brown eyes, fun spiked hair, and a huge smile!  I wanted to make her a special card.  I was inspired from this site.

Here's a gorgeous card I received from my friend from my birthday from Kristy:

Come back and visit my blog again soon!  Better yet, share it with a friend!

The Next Century

Yes, it's official...today is a "century-turner" for me.  I'm celebrating my birthday!

I actually like to celebrate for at least a week.  Last weekend Kent and I went to a hotel with a spa.  We enjoyed a romantic night away with some rest and relaxation.

In all honesty, I've been in denial about this day.  I went to an antique shoppe with my friend, Annette, and had a good laugh at this onion keeper that I purchased.  It just about summed up how I thought I would feel about today:

Then I decided to "cry a river, build a bridge and get over it."  That's exactly what I did (well, I didn't really cry, just tear up a bit).

I had a great lunch today with about 14 (yes, I have that many friends!) other lovely ladies in Bury St. Edmunds at Nando's Restaurant.  It was delicious!

Tonight I'm celebrating with supper out with the family.  We'll go to a local restaurant.  Saturday might be date night.

Here's a fun article to read.  It eases the pain a bit, lol!

So (raising my glass of wine), as Lucille Ball says it well:

"The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly and lie about your age."

A Good Weekend

My card club friends really liked the competition card I made in December.  Since it was my turn to come up with the project, I decided to show everyone how to make it.

Here's the project.  First photo is with the bendi card closed, the second photo is with it open:

I had fun doing this project, and used all sorts of crafting supplies:  framelits, stamps, doilies, ribbon, punches, and my big shot.

I guess you could say "love is in the air" as Kent and I just returned from a romantic getaway at this little gem.  It was complete with a spa too.  The weekend, thanks to THIS special man, was such a treat.

Thanks for stopping by!

Zippers, buttons or snaps?

What do you prefer?  Zippers, buttons or snaps?

I have a leather jacket from 2007 that I love.  We moved with it to Turkey, and there I decided it needed a zipper.

It was so CHEAP to have a zipper put on!  I LOVE the Zipper!  There's no way I could have paid $10 to have it put on here in England.  The zipper I had fixed on my jean skirt last year cost 10 gbp.  Ugh.

I wanted to share my competition card from card club last week.  The theme was simple:  buttons.

I used my musical cuttlebug embossing to get the pennants, my newest sizzix primitive stars die cut, raffia, as well as one of my my paper pumpkin stamps (the "hey there friend").  And I used ONE button!

Afterwards, I wondered if I should have used more, but then I thought it would have been too much.

What about you?  Do you like buttons?

Extra Kudos

Our local England community recently suffered a blow too close to home.  Amid recent news, it makes one stop and count their blessings a few extra times.

I'm proud of our community and our host nation in the way they have stepped up to support those in need.

Here are more thank you cards I made recently.  I used my clear embossing powder and sponged ink over my snowflake stamps.  The results were better than I expected.

Sending extra kudos to those who have gone above and beyond to assist those in need.  And sending even more in regards to prayers to the families and those affected in the loss of their loved ones.

Yes, continuing with the busy birthday month...(dad, skip the first two pictures!)
Here is the birthday card I am sending my father and father-in-law.  I love how they turned out!

Card club was this past Monday.  The swap was a "tea bag holder."  Below are the creations from the lovely ladies in our group!  Oops - Mary was confused and used the competition theme (using buttons).  They all turned out great!
Can you guess which one mine is??  (scroll down)...

If you guessed the green teapot in the middle, you are correct!
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy 2014!

Happy New Year!
Kent and I had a great date night last night - we went on base for 80's night at the club.  It was a fun time and my hair was big!  Below is a New Year's card.  I thought it was fun and festive.

Today is my sister's birthday (her card is below).  I just called and facetime'd with her.  She will be celebrating via dinner out with husband and friends.  She said her husband ordered a limousine to pick them up (as well as friends) and take them out to eat.  I hope they have a wonderful time!  I love you seeeeeeester!!!!

Card club is Monday, Jan 6th.  Stay tuned:  competition card is using buttons and the swap will be a tea bag holder.
