Hello from England!

Welcome to my blog!

I receive daily emails with craft inspirations.  I love making the projects "my own."  Today's project comes in a cutesy little box too!

The box contains a set of blank cards, and it was an ideal way for me to "mass produce" as I prefer to do.  I tried to take several photos:

Lots of family and friends have been dealing with cold, snow, sleet, rain.  (We even had rain in Florida this past week and below normal temperatures).  I hope these crafts brighten your day and that spring will reach you soon!!

Finding the good in the sad

My husband's family suffered a loss last week to a great woman, his grandmother.  It's the last "grandparent" between him and me to pass on.  My husband took out to Kansas last week with our teenage son (I stayed here w/ our daughter and the dog).  We knew that my daughter had quite a bit of school work and the extra expense to kennel the dog ($20 a day) would have just really hurt our budget even more. (Gas alone ended up being over $300).

His grandmother was born in 1917.  I can't even fathom the rough times she went through as did all of our grandparents.  Like my grandparents, she came from a good sized family.  She was one of 6 and had 6 children.  My husband braved the terrible roads from the recent "Quantum Storm" that hit and made it home safely today.  He said it was so great seeing cousins and family that he hadn't seen in years.  One cousin there he was able to catch up with that he last saw when he was 12!

I made a couple of cards while he was gone with his grandmother in mind.  I hope you like them.  The photo doesn't show the colors right - the flowers and butterflies don't look like they match colors right, but it looks better in person.

It's sad to tell family goodbye but we're so blessed that she didn't pass while we lived in England or during our transitional move last November back stateside.  Praise God!

I also worked on another project, so check back soon to see that one!  Rest in peace A.T.  I know we'll see you again some day.

My daughter and I went to the beach on Saturday.  The waves were wild but the sun was shining.

I loved the boxes I made recently with the envelope punch board, so I had to make holders for the goodies I gave my kiddos for Valentine's Day.  My daughter was especially thrilled that hers wasn't pink or red!  ha!

I not only shared goodies, but was blessed to receive the below from my friend Karen.  I loved the tea!  It's already gone!

What have you shared lately with a family, friend, or loved one??  Do tell!

Day 14 of 14 - last day of Showin' the Love!

As I wrap up my 14 days of Showing the Love with craft projects I look back and am pleased with the projects.  I tried to implement a variety of techniques from embossing to using the Big Shot.  It's kind of like my cooking - if it's going to take me a long time, then don't expect me to make it.  That's one reason I prefer to make cards and 3-D projects as opposed to scrapbooking (thank you snapfish and shutter fly!)

I started today's project yesterday.  It took longer to make than I expected...but I am pleased with how it turned out.

I wanted to make sure and punch out a bird since I've been blessed with seeing new feathery friends everyday.  Thank you for checking back often to see my daily projects.  I will probably go back to my postings once or twice a week (yes, you get a break!)

Thank you for your support of my website and creations.  If you haven't already, please sign up "by email" (to the right) or "follow" my blog if you have a google account.

Hoping the groundhog was wrong and you have a spring sooner than later!

Day 13 of 14

I wanted to work on being more "3-D" with today's craft.  I decided a box of some sort made with the envelope punch board was the way to go.

I found this SUPER EASY box. I made it in less than 10 minutes!  (Cutting out, punching in right spots, gluing, folding - DONE!)

The measurements and instructions can be found at THIS website.  I'm using the box as a plant container.  It could be used to hold treats, baked cookies, a candle...endless possibilities.  I tried two different plants.  The box base is about 3"x3".

Of course the embellishments are what you make it.  The "10 minutes" that it took are the basic box, but you make it your own and add your own bling!

The birds are getting braver as they have discovered the bird feeder close by the kitchenette windows.  Here's some good photos.  Maybe tomorrow's final project will have a bird on it...check back tomorrow for the finale!  Please share my website with your friends and family.  My current goal is 17,000 site hits!

Day 12 of 14

Just a couple more days left of my "14 Days of Showing the Love."  Today's project is all about layers.  And I decided the past two weeks wouldn't be complete without some more embossing.

I embossed red glitter on white and white on red (and brown).  I made 2 versions to spice it up a bit.

I recently purchased 2 new red bird feeders.  I've enjoyed the birds discovering the yum yums.  I took a photo of a lovely bird that has been visiting my yard along with his girlfriend.  Tweet love!

I hope you like it!  Check back tomorrow.

Day 11 of 14

We're almost there!  Valentine's Day is just around the corner!  Have you made or purchased that special gift for that special loved one?

I went today to Hobby Lobby (love it!) with a good friend.  I was hand delivered a candy holder and then we dropped off a Valentine Card and candy holder to another friend.  I love giving these things away and sharing the love!

Today's project was yet another inspiration from Pinterest.  It was super easy and can be versatile for Valentine's Day or an anniversary like yesterday's.

3 days left!  See you tomorrow!

Day 10 of 14

Today's card was "popped in the post" (that's my old English slang for puttin' it in the mail) to some very special people...

I was inspired by the layout from Dawn's website (click HERE).  She lays out all the measurements for great simplicity in making it.

I could have saved it for an Anniversary card but felt with the season it needed due justice for Valentine's Day.

The card swings open the opposite way you'd normally expect.  Photo #2 shows that.  Only 4 more days of my Showing the Love!  So be sure to check back tomorrow - it'll be a HOOT!

Day 9 of 14

Today's project was inspired by the paper doily I used yesterday.  I also came across a funny joke that I wanted to share:

The Secret of a Happy Marriage

There was once a man and woman who had been married for more than 60 years.   They had shared everything.  They had talked about everything.  They had kept no secrets from each other except that the woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day, the woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover.   In trying to sort out their affairs, the man took down the shoebox and took it to his wife's bedside.  She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.  When he opened it, he found two crocheted doilies and a stack of money totaling $25,000.
He asked her about the contents.  "When we were to be married," she said, "my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue.  She told me that if I ever got angry with you I should just keep quiet and crochet a doily."
The man was so moved he had to fight back tears. Only two precious doilies were in the box.  She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving.  He almost burst with happiness.

"Honey," he said, "that explains the doilies, but what about all of this money?  Where did it come from?" "Oh," she said, "that's the money I made from selling the doilies.

On that note...here's today's photo.  Check back tomorrow.

Day 8 of 12

I was pretty excited about today's project.  I've been trying to decide what Valentine's Day decorations I was going to put up.  Figured I should do something sooner than later!  Funds are a bit low these days from moving, so there's nothing better than homemade!

I saw THIS pinspiration and decided it was a great way to change things up from the cards I've been making.

Here's is my version of a fun Valentine banner.  A couple of close-up versions and then my project proudly displayed in my breakfast nook:

Day 7 of 14

I love Saturdays!  They are my favorite day of the week.  I don't have to get up at 5:30am to get my daughter ready for the bus, so I get to " sleep in" to at least 8:00am.  Yahoo!

Today's project was inspired by THIS website.  It was SUPER easy to do and the tutorial was easy to follow.  I'll be filling these little goody boxes and then passing them out to some very special people...happy day 7 of 14 to Show the Love!  See you tomorrow.

Day 6 of 14

Yesterday I veered away from the "girly-ness" of Valentine's Day.
Today I'm starting to dive in to it!

This project was inspired by a previous card from my card club in England.  Annette shared a swap in black and white with scalloped circles in place of the hearts.  I used the same layout and made a fun pink card:

Of course I added a rhinestone in the middle of the hearts shown above.  We all need a little Bling in our lives!

Happy Friday to all of you!  Remember, yesterday I offered to mail a free card to the first person who commented...it's still up for grabs!  Go check out yesterday's post!

Day 5 of 14

Yeah!  I'm so glad you are here checking out my blog!
Today's project of Showing the Love has more of a masculine feel to it.  I wanted to get a bit away from the "girly-ness" of Valentine's Day approaching filled with lace, hearts, pinks, reds, etc.

I'm also trying to create projects that are quick and easy to make to inspire you to make goodies to share with special family or friends.

There are 2 cards here with the same concept, just a bit different with the details.

The first person to leave me a comment below will receive in the mail the card below of YOUR CHOICE!

Day 4 of 14

My dog doesn't like rain.  He tolerates a bath, but can't wait to get out.  Today it rained 90% of the day.  I was a bit relieved that I could stay inside and put together my hubby's new desk and finally put together our futon from the move.  A walk with the dog wasn't in my cards today.  (And the projects took about 5 hours thank you very much).

I recently made some peanut butter-seeded pinecones for the birds as well as fill a water bottle with bird seed with a spoon poking out the bottom for a perch and distribution of the goods.  I busted out laughing today when he Zeus spied a squirrel trying to get the bird seed.  My dog HAD to go out.  He could have cared less that it was raining for that split second.  And I've never seen him dart SO fast out in the yard!  It was so funny!  All I could think of is the dog from the movie "Up" saying "squirrel!" "squirrel!"

In honor of the two squirrels that survived a mad dash up a tree today, here is my card for Day 4 of 14:

Day 3 of 14

Today I have a card that was inspired by a swap from the card club I belonged to in England.  I loved how it turned out and I hope you do to!
The first photo is of the swap, followed by my Day 3 project:

See you tomorrow!

Day 2 of 14

Continuing my 14 Days of Love...

I'm sharing a continuation from the card I made last week when my friends were here.

I changed up the butterfly and background stamps and replaced it with hearts.

There's more lovin' coming tomorrow so check back!

Day 1 of 14

Happy February 1st!

I'm celebrating one of my favorite holidays with "14 days of Love."

I will be sharing something creative for 14 days and posting it to help bring out the creativity in YOU!  There is nothing better than a gift made with love in my opinion.

Here are photos of the crafts I've been promising to post from this past Wednesday when I had friends over for crafts, tea, and lunch.  My camera isn't cooperating today to upload my personal photos of the same card, but I'm happy to share Karen and Annette's creations!

The card was inspired by THIS photo found on Pinterest.  The box was inspired by THIS website.  Of course, we used reds and pinks in celebration of upcoming Valentine's Day.   The cards turned out great, don't you think?

Annette's box:

See you tomorrow for day 2!
