Hello from England!

Welcome to my blog!
We are a christian family living in the Sunshine state (before that we spent four years in England and two years in Turkey).

My posts are of everyday life and my love of crafting. I hope to inspire you in some way to share your talents too.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to leave a comment.
Cheers and God's blessings to you and yours!

Last weekend was a mother / daughter luncheon at church.  They invited us to sign up to decorate tables. I thought it would be appropriate if I decorated 2 (if they needed me to); one of England and one of Turkey.  Along with that, I wanted those at my tables to have a take-home goodie.

I decided a tea bag was a nice and affordable treat.  I originally wanted to give each tea bag a butterfly that could sit upon the rim of a mug or tea cup.  I the realized that would be a difficult task in getting the butterfly to fit various sizes of cups.

I did manage to give each tea bag string a butterfly - but the butterflies were not as functional as I intended.  I still like how they turned out:

They did end up needing me to decorate the 2 tables.  I forgot to take a photo of the finished product, but had fun putting out my teapots, cake stand, some England recipe booklets, some biscuits and tea cups along with plates.  Check back soon to see the take home I made for my turkish table!

Unfolding and sideways

I'm sure you are getting tired of my photos of my back yard.  If you are, sorry!

If you are not, then here are some more!  I love watching my backyard unfold with colors!  I have some lovely rose bushes...and...well, many other buddings that I don't know what they are.  Oh - blueberries, I got that one, lol!

Blueberries - not blue yet, but soon!

Not sure what this is- maybe the pear tree?  But these buds dropped off...

oops, this one is sideways, sorry!  Tip your head <---- this way.

I think the only thing I didn't see were butterflies.  So I made one!  I was actually working on some tea bag holders for a mother / daughter luncheon and came across this idea.  Check back soon for that post.  I'll be posting two different versions that I made.  There is a teaser in the below photo.  Thanks for stopping by!

Rain, Rain Go Away

Talk about feeling like I am still living in England!  The rain lately has been bucket-fuls falling from the sky and putting a damper on my joy of spring.  I am thankful we are not in a drought, but goodness, I am definitely looking for sunnier days!  I know our dog is too as it's too muddy and wet to go on walks.

Thankfully I made a door swag recently.  I love how it turned out!  I saw some ideas on Pinterest and made some purchases at A.C. Moore (like Hobby Lobby).  Here is my first ever attempt!  Hope it brings a little "sunshine your way" too!

Older and...a diabetic?

I was shopping recently at a Hobby Lobby with my friend Annette and came across this stamp set.  It CRACKED ME UP!  I knew exactly who I wanted to make a card for.

I have a childhood friend (since I was 5) who does not like getting older.  She knows I love to tease her about her birthday when it does come around.  Although, she has no problem reminding me that I am about 3 months older than her...
Here is the card I made her:

I wanted to do the whole "black rose bouquet" as a gift, but opted not to.  I sent her from the Key West area some sampler cakes.  Here is her photo she took (they arrived today!)
I figured she can freeze some of them and celebrate all year long...

Hoping that this gift doesn't turn her into a diabetic...old age does that, you know!
Love ya Nikki Lou!

Sugar cookies!

I love spring!  The blooms on the trees, baby bunnies, more daylight hours, and everything coming back to life!

I made my kids a goodie recently and filled them with Starburst jelly beans.  I was inspired by THIS link I found through Pinterest.  I didn't have the same size of oval punches (hence the large bunny paws) but made it work:

Olivia and I made sugar cookies.  It's our first time making them in our home since moving here in November.  They were delicious as always!

Olivia is becoming quite talented.  She decorated ALL the cookies by herself!  She did an AMAZING job!  Her favorite (mine too!) is the music note pictured below (the one on the left with the zig zag).  Maybe her future occupation is as an art teacher?  Or bakery owner?  Hmm...we'll see!

Easter Blessings!

Hoping you had a wonderful Easter filled with abundant blessings!

Here is the Easter card I mailed out to family and friends.  The design was taken from a card I came across in my collection of swapped cards from England card club.  It wasn't too difficult to reproduce and of course, it helped that I made more than one.

I don't have many Easter decorations, and I'm not big on decorating with bunnies, but I had this little guy that I thought would look good in the photo.  The picture is of the front and beside it is the backside since it doesn't "open up":

Here are some delayed pictures from the church ladies' fellowship when I made the 50 carrot/candy holders (sour cream container design).   You can see how to make them from this link posted last week.

Olivia and I made sugar cookies yesterday and I made a fun spring treat box for the kids.  You don't want to miss it!  Check back soon!

More blooms...

Here are the remaining photos taken around our home.  I had fun taking the photos and I hope you enjoy them too!

The weather was amazing on this Good Friday.  I was blessed to be able to spend the day with my kids.  I took them out to lunch and we purchased some new clothes for them for school.  I keep threatening to put a brick on their heads like my parents used to say...they're getting so big!  :(

Easter cards were mailed this week to family and friends...I'll post those photos by Sunday.

Romans 5:6-10

The kids and I also visited the Dollar Tree today.  They brought some allowance and had fun making purchases (mostly candy).  I grimaced when I was reminded how materialistic religious holidays are.  Don't get me wrong...in spring I love being reminded of baby chicks, bunnies, flowers blooming and buds on the trees.  And I do make some crafts related to spring using those elements.  But it guts me about the over-use of the Easter bunny on Easter.

Please remember the "reason for the season" and the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.  It definitely isn't something to be taken lightly.

Blessings All Around

One of the fun things about moving to a new house is seeing what blooms.  I've taken several photos (this is only about half) around my house.  Some things I can decipher what it is, the other shrubs/blooms I don't know about but like what I see!

I wanted to share them with my readers.  Especially those of you who have such a hard winter and are longing for spring.  If I know what it is, I've labeled it.  If I don't know what it is, feel free to help me out!

I had to photograph our birdhouse from England (from Bewilderwood - great book series too for pre-teens!)

Lastly, here are the goodies I had to share at the ladies' fellowship last Friday night.  The turnout wasn't as many as we had hoped, so I had plenty leftover that I've enjoyed sharing with friends and coworkers (as well as my kids and their teachers).

Easter is almost here!!!!!!!
