Happy National Chocolate Day!

It's almost here...Halloween. Some of my friends L-O-V-E this event. They love dressing up, they love going to haunted houses, the corn mazes, they love the candy (Ok, I love candy too)...they just can't get enough of it. I have some more crafts that were made early on with my sweet friend Annette. Here was her masterpiece with the concept of a layout (see blog post before this one). She did an amazing job! And a card I made using acetate, Annette's "Boo" die-cut and versa mark with embossing powder on vellum: In all honesty, I'm not as all geared up for October 31st like I used to be. When I was little, it was fun to dress up and go door to door. It was fun to pick and choose candy and ration it to see how long it would last (ok, my mom made us ration it as it sat on top of the fridge and we were allowed 2 pieces a day). Some like it hot...

It's been a very hot summer. Temps lately have been over 100 degrees that doesn't include the heat index. Those who know me will attest that I prefer the heat as I freeze 6 months out of the year and wear socks almost year around. However, end of next week is September which means fall (my favorite season) is just around the corner! I absolutely LOVE fall! I love the colors, the weather, the foods, the scents and my favorite jeans with a sweater. This year I am looking forward to a change of seasons for more than one reason. For those of you who may not know, it's been an exceptionally trying year. It was smooth sailing until summer hit. It started off amazing with the birth of our grandson and a trip to Florida to meet him. Yes, it's absolutely true what they say about being a grandparent. It's love on a completely different level! We are many states away, but my heart explodes with love when I think about him. After our visit, I had jury duty. Of course,

Sometimes you just can't pass up a good deal. When I went stateside this past summer, I had to hit up Michael's. I found white cards with an embossing on them...a pack of 6 WITH envelopes for $1.00! Hindsight says I should have purchased more. Here are some creations I made with 3 of those cards: The final card pictured below is for my mother's good college friend. Her birthday is in a couple of weeks. She's always been so good to send my kids birthday and holiday cards all throughout the year. I sent her card off to her yesterday along with about 20 decorated blank cards for her to use at her disposal. Snail mail is a lost art. Yes, I call it an art. My children know how to address an envelope, write a letter in cursive, and where to put the stamp. I'd bet money on it that 50% of my kids' classmates cannot say the same. Don't get me wrong...
